Join our Database and Infrastructure team.

Role Purpose:
We are now looking to recruit an Infrastructure Engineer to join our Database and Infrastructure team.  The successful candidate will possess at least 4 years’ experience in a SysAdmin / Infrastructure role and have a solid understanding of: Windows Server 2016; networking, protocols and technologies used (Firewalls/Load Balancers), IIS (understanding the configurations within IIS, both application pool and website specific).

 

Reporting to the Head of Service Delivery, and working closely with our current Infrastructure Engineer, you will design and build environments, and monitor them.  Daily tasks will include monitoring all server resources, managing alerts, and dealing with tickets from hosting providers.  Possessing good communication and documentation skills, you will pro-actively work to prevent the occurrence of incidents and issues that affect service quality.

 

Person Specification

 

Technical Capability and Skills
Primary knowledge (essential):

  • Proven ability in a SysAdmin role, Data Centre experience
  • Virtualisation – solid knowledge of virtual environments (VMWare / VCentre)
  • ASP.NET
  • Infrastructure monitoring
  • Disaster Recovery
  • MS operating systems
  • A good understanding of Networking principles and concepts; exposure to multiple vendors of Firewall and Load Balancer devices such as Cisco, Juniper, F5 and Brocade would be advantageous; infrastructure approaches (use of load balanced servers, DB Clusters, SAN's)
  • Understanding of security and compliance principles
  • Web Services (SOAP & REST)
  • Good understanding of the issues and constraints (e.g. hardware platforms, networking, etc.) of developing technical solutions for web-based applications and digital media projects.

 

Infrastructure Support

  • Infrastructure support and implementation skills / knowledge to include:
  • Thorough understanding of Windows Server 2008 R2, 2012 and 2016
  • Thorough understanding of networking, protocols and technologies used (Firewalls/LB’s, etc.)
  • Thorough understanding of IIS (understanding the configurations within IIS, both application pool and website specific)
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, creating IAAS, PAAS, SAAS solutions and services
  • Working knowledge of PowerShell.
  • Troubleshooting skills
  • Database Management experience

 

Technical Capability and Skills
Desirable / advantageous, but not essential:

  • Database Management experience
  • Azure Management and Deployment Experience.
  • Application Support
  • A solid understanding of APIs and application interactions (specifically an end-to-end understanding of the process used with web services and the corresponding actions of SQL or .Net).
  • MCP or MCSD
  • MS Windows, Exchange, SharePoint, Active Directory, SQL & IIS (MSCE)
  • Networking and Network Security & Compliance (CCNA).
