RBW Consulting are partnered with a multi-national full-service Medical Communications agency whose Clinical Studies (CS) team is looking for an Account Director to join their team of specialists in healthcare communications. In this role, you will lead account teams in the delivery of complex and multi-year projects to support clinical studies. You will be responsible for building sound and strategic recommendations, working with senior team members, and ensure quality delivery and execution. Working across events and meetings, creative branding and communications materials, and insights projects, you will help to identify the right solutions for the client challenge.

The Account Director will:

  • Provide strategic leadership and counsel on accounts and build strong client relationships
  • Oversee the account team in delivering quality projects that are on strategy, creative and appropriate for the client needs
  • Manage the financial health of accounts and have proactive conversations with clients when scope changes
  • Mentor and upskill junior staff members to support their growth and development
  • Develop complex and strategic materials including patient and site materials, event and meeting approaches, new business proposals and
  • Take an increasing role for identifying new business opportunities

As a member of the Senior Management Team, Account Directors are involved in the leadership of the Clinical Studies team and play an active role in shaping and growing the business. If you are looking to take on a greater role in client and team leadership, then this might be for you!

Responsibilities

  • Act as day-to-day strategic lead on accounts, providing effective counsel to clients on complex challenges
  • Oversee and guide team in execution of projects, providing coaching and mentoring
  • Develop and manage complex, sensitive and/or strategic communications with the client
  • Identify opportunities for new business and organic growth and take a leadership role in developing strategic proposals
  • Facilitate meetings and workshops on behalf of clients with flexibility to handle challenging situations
  • Manage and maintain the overall financial health of assigned client accounts and accurately project, forecast and resource plan
  • Line manage Account Associates and Account Managers, completing regular check-ins and performance reviews
  • Contribute to the functioning of the business through internal responsibilities

Candidate

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A university degree in sciences or related academic qualifications
  • 5-7 years of experience consulting within clinical research, pharmaceutical industry, medical communications, or related communications field (agency experience preferred, not required)
  • Curiosity and a passion for learning and clinical studies
  • A desire to solve client challenges with innovative and fresh ideas
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented approach, and ability to handle a variety of different and challenging situations
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex client accounts to high standards of service, on strategy, on time, and within budget
  • Superior writing skills with the ability to write for a variety of audiences including patients and healthcare professionals, and in a variety of formats
  • Strong business acumen and financial management skills
  • Strong computing skills with the main applications used by the Company, e.g., MS Suite, including the use of SharePoint and Teams
  • Superior facilitation and presentation skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and team skills with demonstrated leadership abilities
  • A network of professional contacts
  • Ability to travel as client mandates dictate
