Principal Scientist, Immunooncology – Antibody Therapy Company

Company Overview

Role

​·         Develop robust and reproducible cellular assays to evaluate activity of drug candidates

·         Conduct well controlled decision-making in vivo experiments to demonstrate preclinical proof-of-principle for novel immuno-oncology agents

·         Apply deep understanding of immune readouts (i.e., FACS-based immunophenotyping, T cell activation assays, cytokine profiling, immunohistochemistry, mRNA profiling, etc.) to elucidate mechanism of action and identify candidate biomarkers

·         Direct scientifically and train junior scientists on both in vivo and in vitro techniques

·         Manage daily activities of one or two senior scientists/scientists

·         Serve as a point of contact for collaborations with external academic and corporate partners and CROs

·         Lead multidisciplinary discovery project teams and design strategies for demonstrating preclinical proof-of-principle for novel immuno-oncology agents

·         Keep abreast with cutting-edge research and competitive intelligence and apply to concept discovery and drug candidate characterization in the field of cancer immunotherapy

·         Participate in authorship of scientific and/or patent publications

·         Prepare and present data to internal and external audiences

·         Facilitate productive interactions with neighboring functions in the Drug Discovery and Immunology groups within Compass Therapeutics

 Requirements:

·         PhD and a post-doctoral training in immunology / immuno-oncology with evidence of high scientific achievements

·         3 to 5+ years of managerial experience is preferred

·         Strong immunology background

·         Strong publication record

·         Track record of scientific excellence and successful advancement of new therapeutic principles in industry or academia

·         Ability to design and perform hands on reproducible, well controlled, decision making experiments

·         Management experience; teach and direct young scientists and technical personnel

·         Ability to write technical scientific documents independently

·         Experience in evaluating the activity of immuno-oncology agents in preclinical models

·         Be a highly collaborative team player
