Infrastructure Engineer

​My client, a growing organisation in the pharmaceutical and biotech space are recruiting an experienced Network/Infrastructure Engineer that will be responsible for collaborating with the IT leadership team to define, construct, and manage all hardware components within the IT domain, such as servers, firewalls, routers, switches, etc. The role encompasses staying abreast of the latest market products, suggesting enhancements to improve the overall work environment for employees, and providing 2nd-3rd level support to the help desk team in troubleshooting issues that require specialized system knowledge.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure the campus-wide infrastructure and services maintain the requisite levels of availability, reliability, scalability, and performance.

• Administer physical/virtual servers.

• Manage Active Directory.

• Oversee backup administration.

• Offer technical support and guidance to the helpdesk staff.

• Explore new technologies to modernize IT systems.

• Create and update infrastructure documentation.

• Implement and maintain security, backup, and redundancy strategies.

• Design, deploy, configure, and uphold the server infrastructure, encompassing both physical and virtual servers (VMWARE), ensuring high availability and performance.

• Monitor server performance, identify bottlenecks, and proactively address issues.

• Assist in planning server requirements for projects, new applications, and migrations.

• Track maintenance contracts and end-of-life for servers.

Technical Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field or graduate of a technical school. Relevant technical certifications are a plus. 

• At least eight (8) years of technical experience with proven experience as a server engineer for at least five (5) years.

• Profound knowledge of server operating systems and hardware.

• Expertise with Dell hardware, including PowerEdge servers, PowerStore storage, laptops, and desktops.

• Extensive experience with VMWARE.

• Proficient in managing at least 200 Virtual Machines with Windows & Linux operating systems.

• Capable of planning and executing upgrades of the VSphere environment.

• Skilled in using PowerShell commands and scripting for VSphere tasks.

• Experience with lun storage for VM deployments.

• Proficient in utilizing the VSphere console.

• Additional Desirable Skills:

• Experience with Extreme Networks Switches and Wireless Access Points.

• Familiarity with Fortinet Firewalls.

• Exposure to Azure cloud.

• Work with Dell Servers.

• Familiarity with Cohesity DataProtect backup and recovery.

• Strong understanding of cloud technologies, particularly Azure and Office 365.
