Responsibilities:

Responsible for driving partnered research from new target identification and novel drug candidate development through early clinical POC studies, to create life-changing therapeutic opportunities for patients with immunology and/or inflammation driven diseases.
Accountable for defining and alignment on the preclinical and early clinical disease research elements of the Therapeutic Area strategy in partnership with other research leaders.
Set up the discovery portfolio goals and assure alignment with key partners in inflammatory research, and the clinical development team, and other company stakeholders, including the business development group.
Responsible for building a top notch team while maintaining a spirit of excellence in the group and across the organization.

Requirements:

PhD degree in Immunology, Rheumatology, Inflammation or related field
10+ years of Industry experience including 5+ years in leadership roles and mentoring direct reports is required
Strong expertise in drug development and target validation including leading programs to the clinic. Experience with regulatory submissions is a strong plus.
Provide teams with strategies to inform, influence, and prioritize the drug development pipelines.
Ability to lead a team in a matrixed environment
Excellent verbal, communication and presentation skills
