Location: New York City, New Jersey

A major international pharma business based in New Jersey near New York City and specializing in CNS rare diseases is looking for an Associate Director of Medical Strategy and Communications to lead strategic projects, publication planning and educational outreach. The Associate Director of Medical Strategy and Communications will drive the collaborative scientific and communications platform as well as lead operational management for the CNS medical affairs business unit. Working closely with the Sr. Director – CNS, this role will be responsible for strategic projects, determining educational needs, publication planning and execution, and operational leadership for several areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive a program to optimize overall engagement with centers of excellence.

  • Lead an ongoing knowledge gap analysis which will serve to determine critical areas for field engagement.

  • Working with the CNS team, lead and implement an educational program that best targets internal and external needs

  • Serve as the operational leader for the IIS program and team related training

  • Determine strategic and tactical publication plans for marketed and near-market products.

  • Lead the implementation of publication plans to ensure high-quality publication deliverables.

  • Serve as central contact with internal and external stakeholder on all aspects of scientific publications to ensure efficient and transparent communication.

Position Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Health Sciences or related field (MD, PhD, DNP, PharmD).

  • Minimum of 4-5 years of industry experience in Medical Affairs and Medical Communications at pharmaceutical companies or medical communication agencies.

  • Past record of success in determining medical affairs therapeutic area strategy

  • Direct experience in publication planning and publication content preparation is highly preferred.

  • Deep understanding of pharmaceutical R&D and commercialization processes.

  • Good knowledge of principles and practices of pharmaceutical clinical studies (including design, conduct, analysis and reporting).
