Responsibilities:

  • Manage and implement activities to strengthen laboratory capacity for NGS development and growth.

  • Provide technical assistance and training for NGS activities.

  • Coordinate the implementation and assessment of genomics laboratory practices.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in NGS, PCR, bioinformatics, strategic planning, and laboratory capacity building.

  • Supervise staff and act as a technical advisor.

  • Ensure technical performance of sequencing processes meets specifications, on time, and within budget.

  • Collaborate with other groups and departments to develop NGS workflows from sample to result.

  • Mentor and develop staff.

  • Perform other assigned duties.

  • Provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Offer expertise and technical assistance in NGS technologies, including Illumina instruments, wet bench methods, protocol development, and equipment specifications.

  • Develop and implement molecular methods, optimize and troubleshoot.

  • Provide virtual and in-person training on molecular methods such as NGS and PCR.

  • Manage technical project activities and training programs.

  • Ensure technical program activities and reporting comply with sponsor requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Master’s degree or equivalent in Biological Sciences, Medical, Pharmaceutical, Biomedical Laboratory Technology, or Biochemistry.

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in NGS within an accredited environment (e.g., Biotech/CRO). Proven ability to hire and lead a technical team. Experience with library preparation for NGS, optimizing novel assays, and troubleshooting protocols.

Skills:

    • Strong background in molecular biology and bioinformatics.

    • Knowledge of GCLP and CAP/CLIA guidelines.

    • Excellent communication, project management, and teamwork skills.

    • Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver within timelines.

    • Highly organized with lab management experience, including SOP writing and inventory management.
