Location: Gatwick - UK

Our client is currently undergoing a significant software modernisation programme across almost their entire software estate and it is crucial that our applications and processes work in a way that maximises the benefits to the users and the firm. This role is critical part of achieving our goals and is a hybrid role of translating business requirements to application design and through to solution development, creation of a project plans and delivery of solutions to the plans on time and on budget.

About the IT Environment

Desktop & application delivery is via Citrix Desktop operating on thin terminals and laptops. The back-end infrastructure is hosted, managed and supported by a Third-Party IT provider.

Responsibilities and Duties

As a hybrid role, the skills required are wide and varied. We are looking for flexible skills and wide experience including the following:

Business Analyst Responsibilities;

  • Understand the needs and working practices of the business, how they translate into application delivery, and consider how IT will troubleshoot, investigate and support those applications.

  • Work directly with users and work with the Head of IT to analyse business and client challenges and opportunities and resolve them through use of software applications and online services.

  • If any mergers are planned, to analyse software and business processes of law firm merger targets, and map or adapt software and processes to ensure a smooth transfer to our systems and processes.

Project Management Responsibilities;

  • Project manage a number of concurrent application and system rollouts.

  • Work with the Head of IT to analyse business requirements and identify solutions with third party providers, either through customising or expanding existing software or by identifying new software.

  • Work with the Information Security Officer to ensure software and processes are compliant to our information security policies (ISO27001)

Other Responsibilities

  • Being a varied and flexible role, you will be expected to be involved in other areas: Facilitate user acceptance testing (UAT) for new systems.

  • Work with IT training personnel to help define training content

  • Act as escalation point for the Helpdesk, to address ‘how to’ user queries around

Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required

Required Skills:

  • Similar, varied experience in a law firm.

  • The ability to thoroughly learn new software applications, either through provided training provided by the firm or through independent learning and research.

  • Experience of working with business stakeholders, both individual and in groups, to gather and analyse their requirements and using software functionality to meet those requirements.

  • Strong organisational skills

  • Excellent IT applications skills, in particular Microsoft Office.

  • Experience with legal practice, document and case management systems. Aderant/iManage/SharePoint experience would be particularly useful.

  • Excellent people and communication skills.

  • Ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team.

  • Good writing and presentation skills

  • Skills that will further advantage your application

  • Experience with other legal applications including Bighand, Isokon and Kutana Kappris

  • A high-level working knowledge of Active Directory and its use in managing applications and application access

  • A sound knowledge of cyber security and the governance required when implementing new software solutions and services.
